A solution of the SM (1 equiv) in DCM at -78 C was treated dropwise with DIBAL-H (1 equiv, 1M in DCM). The reaction was stirred at - 78 C for 1 h, after which time it was quenched slowly with 10% Rochelle's salt. The mixture was warmed to RT and stirred for 1 h. The org layer was separated, dried (MgSO4), concentrated, and purified (if needed) to provide the pdt.
