Example 1

A solution of the bromide (0.432 g, 1.52 mmol), the alkene (0.380 g, 2.48 mmol), P(o-tol)3 (0.040 g, 0.130 mmol), TEA (3 mL), and dry DMF was degassed by bubbling argon for 3 min. Pd(OAc)2 was added, argon was bubbled through the reaction mixture for 30 sec, and vacuum/argon was applied three times. The reaction mixture was stirred under argon at 90 C for 4 h, then RT for 16 h. The mixture was concentrated in vacuo and purified by flash chromatography (5-30% EtOAc/hexane) to provide the product as a light yellow oil which crystallized upon standing.
