Example 1

To a solution of the SM (900 mg, 2.04 mmol) in dry THF (50 mL) was added n-PrMgCl (1M, 4.1 mL, 4.1 mmol). The reaction mixture was refluxed under N2 for 1 h. After cooling to RT, the reaction was quenched with H2O (10 mL) and extracted with EtOAc (3 x 30 mL). The combined organics were washed with brine, dried, and concentrated. The residue was purified by chromatography (1:1 PE/EtOAc) to provide the product as a colorless oil. [260 mg, 26%]
